Creating a vision board of the kind of workspace I wanted for myself, is what I did. I visioned a home that supported my work as well as a space that had been really loved by the owner. I cannot express enough the gratitude I feel.
I believe that vision boards are a way of believing that a prayer is being answered and a way to keep that faith going.
A fresh bunch of flowers is always something I have in my home or studio. I love being invited into my space, in a way that is cheerful and welcoming.
I painted this desk in one of favorite colours – it’s a colour I have loved since a very young child. My bedroom was always decorated with touches of this. I love how I can spread all my notes and ideas out in front of me.
The inspiring messages on the walls were given to me as a gift by a dear friend when I moved into my new home. They are extra special because she herself, has been such a blessing and gift to my boys and I.
I am very mindful of how I want to feel as I enter the space where I do my creative work.
It is therefore important for me to have my love for nature and all things peaceful surrounding the entrance.
As I write this, 2 little Cape White Eye birds have just visited this plant outside my studio door. They came to savour the berries on the shrub that has attracted them.
I chose this plant specifically so that I could enjoy birds doing so, right within my workspace. It was such a moment of joy to actually observe them and then see them flutter off. I hope they return quite soon.
This easel is so old. I bought it when my I had my very first studio – when my baby was born 13 yrs ago. I wrote about that in my previous post. It is so practical for me because I can paint without having to hold the palette in my hand, helping me to paint more spontaneously.
The lamp attached holds a “daylight bulb” which is so useful when painting at night. Without this, the colours on the canvas tend to look very different the next morning. The pieces on my easel are paintings in progress.
The apron I bought 15 yrs ago during a fabric painting class when my older son was a baby.
I will be sharing with you in my next post why I am such a messy artist and why it is so necessary for me 🙂
When I began my business, I thought of the kind of values and qualities I desire for myself and for my clients. I asked myself how I wanted them to feel. It is therefore really important for me to have the core values of my business in view all the time.
These are the values that are important to me – it is from this point that I create, act, and make choices from. Values I want to impart to my clients and readers. This is how I stay true and authentic to myself, my purpose and my business vision.
At the moment this corner is surrounded with lots of softness and gentleness because that is the place I am in right now…. This corner changes as my mood or needs change. Sometimes its as vibrant as my desk and sometimes…. well …..soothing and nurturing.
This section holds my business workbook where I record my daily, weekly and monthy accomplishments no matter how small they are. I record what I found challenging too and what dreams I have seen come true – again, no matter how small they are, I write them down. Having the book open all the time really keeps me focussed.
The big green board holds one of my business vision boards and also a summary of what I have entered into my workbook. Blog ideas and other inspiration goes onto this board. Because I am a very visual person, I need to see things otherwise they get forgotten in books and files.
Even though my business is very young, this board gives me a reason to keep going, especially on those days when positivity feels a bit low. Lets face it, we all have those days and we need ways to boost our focus.
I have truly loved photographing these pictures and sharing my space with you. I hope you have enjoyed this too.
I would really love to encourage you from my heart to keep acknowledging your passions,
find a way to keep that flame alive
and honour your self worth by making time for your own gifts.
Please feel free to share what your passions are and how you are giving them a voice. I would love to hear. xoxo
All my love
